TREE CARER TEAM LEADER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Overall Function

The Tree Carer Team Leader function is to lead and sustain our tree growth and forest maintenance efforts. This role is central to ensuring the health and longevity of Karura Forest’s ecosystem through hands-on supervision, coordination, and stewardship.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Forest Maintenance

· Supervise clearing of Lantana camara and other invasive species.

· Oversee growing and care of newly planted trees.

· Coordinate watering schedules during dry periods.

· Manage trail opening and clearing activities.

Administration

· Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored and accounted for.

· Report facility repair needs to the Infrastructure Coordinator and management.

Key Performance Indicators

· A clean and thriving forest environment.

· Effective removal of invasive species.

· Timely reporting of issues.

· Proper management of tools and equipment.

Skills and Qualifications

· Diploma in Environmental conservation or a related field.

· Physically fit with normal hearing and vision.

· Fluent in spoken and written English.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Honest, reliable, and trustworthy.

· Willingness to learn and adapt to change.
